Gretsch Guitars Present The “Fred & Joe Show” At Gretsch Dealers Throughout The United States

Gretsch enthusiasts will have the chance to celebrate the music Gretsch has been a part of since their guitar production began in the 1930s. What better way to pay tribute than to have, in-person-the man himself, Fred Gretsch III, and Gretsch marketing honcho, Joe Carducci-sharing the behind-the-scenes stories and musical performances that helped catapult the iconic family business to prominence.

Patrons will be transported through time with a multi-media presentation of sights and sounds including rare Gretsch family archive photos and mind blowing guitar footage from past and future legends. Also featured will be Fred’s famous “$2 Quiz” where Gretsch trivia questions are posed and the person with the correct answer wins a crisp $2 bill. This is the chance to get to know Fred Gretsch up-close-and-personal in a casual open forum at a local Gretsch dealer. (more…)

Gretsch 125th Anniversary Year Wrap-Up

The year 2008 marked a milestone for the Gretsch family as they celebrated 125 years as a manufacturer of the world’s finest drums and guitars. In order to make that celebration as meaningful as possible, the family decided to share it with Gretsch customers, fans, and artists around the world.

As a result, Gretsch’s 125th Anniversary year was chock full of events and activities. These included meet-and-greets with Fred and Dinah Gretsch in music stores across the country, a highly successful Next Gretsch Greats Unsigned Artist Competition, recognition and awards for the Gretsch family, and clinics and special appearances by Gretsch artists all over the world. And it all culminated in a phenomenal anniversary concert and party in New York City. No doubt about it: It was a year to remember. (more…)

Gretsch-SCDS0902-DMG-220Green Gala Auction Party Information — The Green Gala Auction Party, the school’s premier annual event, sponsored by the Parents’ Association, will be held February 7, 2009 at 6:30 pm at the Charles Morris Center in downtown Savannah.  Auction chairs and volunteers have put together a wonderful evening of fun and excitement, all for the benefit of Savannah Country Day School.  There will be a silent auction, a live auction, wonderful food, and entertainment.  The live auction features a one of a kind autographed Gretsch guitar, signed by musicians at the Gretsch 125th Anniversary Big Event.  Tickets are going fast.  It is an event not to be missed! What better way to honor this momentous occasion than to gather some of the most renowned musicians & bands in the world and simply ROCK THE HOUSE!

The night opened with Colourslide, the Gainesville, Florida-based band that was chosen from among 879 world-wide entrants as the winner of the Next Gretsch Greats Unsigned Artist Competition.

New York City— Legendary drum and guitar manufacturer Gretsch is finalizing plans for an equally legendary celebration of its 125th Anniversary. The “Big Event,” to be held at The Highline Ballroom in New York City on November 18, will feature new and veteran Gretsch artists alike, in an eclectic evening of outstanding musical performances.

Fred and Dinah Gretsch Inducted into Georgia Music Hall of Fame

Fred and Dinah Gretsch, president and CFO of Savannah-based The Gretsch Company, one of the world’s most well-known drum and guitar makers, have become the first musical instrument manufacturers to be inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame.

On September 20, 2008, the couple was honored with the “Mary Tallent Pioneer Award,” a distinction given once a year to an inductee who embodies the characteristics of “Mother Mary” Tallent. Tallent was a charter member of the Atlanta Chapter of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) and longtime supporter of Georgia music until her untimely death in an automobile accident in 1984.

As Georgia Music Hall of Fame inductees, the Gretsches joined the likes of Ray Charles, Gladys Knight, R.E.M., The Allman Brothers Band and (more…)
