This GRETSCH BO DIDDLEY signature model guitar has been signed by Tom Petty and all of the band members of the Heartbreakers. It was signed in 2006, marking their 30th anniversary. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are now on tour celebrating this monumental anniversary, making the guitar even more collectible.

This coveted auction item inspired the theme of the 2006 Auction Party – “Into the Great Wide Open” – Petty’s 1991 album and single of the same title.

Auction Information:

Savannah Country Day School is hosting its first fund raising auction on November 4, 2006 at the Hyatt in downtown Savannah, GA. Approximately 12 items will be auctioned in the live auction the night of the event, along with over 300 in the silent auction.

Due the special nature and collectibility of one item, a Bo Diddley model Gretsch guitar signed by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers on their 30th anniversary tour donated by the Gretsch family, Savannah Country Day School will take bids via email until 4 pm ET on November 3rd, 2006. The guitar will be offered during the live auction on November 4th with a minimum bid equaling the highest online bid. If no higher bid is offered at the live auction, the highest online bidder will be awarded the guitar.

Bidding Information:

Email bids must be sent to before 4 pm ET on November 3rd, 2006 and must include the name, address, telephone, and email address of the bidder. Please type “Gretsch Guitar Bid” in the subject line of email bids. Savannah Country Day School will post on its website as soon as is practicable after a bid is received the current highest bid. In case equal bids arrive in relative proximity to one another, the time stamp of the email will determine the earliest bid.

The highest online bidder will be notified before the beginning of live bidding that his/her bid has been received and will determine the minimum bid for the live auction. Buyers will be responsible for shipping and insurance.
